Dating back to Roman times peat has been a valuable resource when used as a fuel to heat homes. Peat has continued to play a significant economic role in countries as a local fuel source but today it is used in horticultural applications. Over the past decade it has became a protected resource which plays a key role as an ecological mechanism. Here at Growmoor we are fully pledged to the protection of peatlands.
Our peat bogs are ethically and environmentally managed to rejuvenate and nurture the areas that are extracted. All our wood fibres and bark fines, COIR and other environmental processed media are from sustainably managed forests and we are continually assessing the necessary fertiliser support added to ensure quality plant growth.
We look upon our company not just as a ‘supplier’ but more importantly as a ‘sustainer’ of natural resources and take great care how we manage these rich assets.
Our range spans across full peat, reduced peat, John Innes, 100% peat free composts and bark. Our products can be easily supplied to suit the customers needs but meets our promise of being environmentally responsible in the fight against climate change.
It is a continued goal of Growmoor to produce high quality mediums from sustainable resources which we take pride in every day.
Better Growing has spent the past two years researching resources other than peat which can give your customers assured growing. In 2006 and early 2007 our independent grower trials approved our new product mixes - we highly endorse these to our customers who desire to use environmental style composts.
